Philippe David recognised a series which he named ‘petite format’, designating it as FPh-() pf. He mentions this series at the end of the first part of his Inventaire Génerale. It consisted of only one known card which is listed as FPh-(1) pf. (see below)
It is described as being a glossy snapshot with four white margins. Caption and signature on the front. On the reverse is ‘Carte Postale pour le service intérieur seulement (France, Algérie, Tunisie).
It is known that Fortier visited and photographed Guinée, in particular Konakry, in 1903/04 so it is suspected that the card shown below is also his work. The caption font, layout, glossy 14 x 7.5 format and text on the reverse all match the above description of FPh-(1) pf. It lacks only the great man’s signature. It is offered only as a possible Fortier until proven otherwise.
FPh-(1)pf . Sénégla - Dakar - Port and Roads / Ant = FPh-398 /
FPh-(2)pf. Guinée Francaise - Unr rue de Konakry / A shop in the native quarters of Konakry / NOTE: this is suspected as being of Fortier’s hand. It is unsigned - see above /
